Brother Gabriel ordained

Brother Gabriel Salmela OP was ordained a deacon at a festive Mass at St Henry's Cathedral today. The Mass was celebrated by +Teemu Sippo SCJ, Bishop of Helsinki. Here are the first photos from the Mass and of the newly ordained deacon.

Authority in the Church - Seminar I

The first of three Theological Tuesday encounters arranged by the Studium Catholicum, the Finnish Ecumenical Council and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland's Office for Theology in the spring of 2015 was held on January 20. The seminar was streamed live and is available for viewing below.

In the first encounter Bishop Matti Repo (Luth.) and Prof. Antoine Levy OP (Cath) discussed the ultimate source of authority in the Church. Moderator was Protopresbyter Heikki Huttunen (Orth).

Brother Gabriel to be deacon

The Vice-Director of the Studium Catholicum, brother Gabriel Salmela OP will be ordained a deacon on Saturday, January 31. The Mass at Saint Henry's Cathedral in Helsinki will be celebrated by Bishop Teemu Sippo SCJ.

For the Studium it is a day of great joy when Brother Gabriel is ordained a deacon. The Mass at the Cathedral begins at 11 a.m. and afterwards coffee will be served in the Parish Hall at Henrikinaukio 1.

Celebrating Aquinas on his Death Day

March 7th is the date of St. Thomas Aquinas death - his heavenly birthday - and at the Studium we mark it with a Mass and a Panel Discussion from 1 p.m.
